Dad rap that does not come off to preachy would be the perfect way to describe "The All". Boom-bap makes a return here on this dusty short but sweet LP. The guest bars offered from Rae and Ross truly shine here , with Ross having the verse of the album as he marriages his mainstream style to perfectly fit in the grime of underground hip hop while throwing shots at hip-hop greats Kanye and Wayne , evoking the spirit of competition hip-hop is so well known for. All this good stuff, while he Rapsody feature fell flat because she ended up exploiting her sexuality in her bars, commonplace to her contemporaries , I hope I never hear bars like that from her again.
As for the main MCs from the Clik, I dug how they traded bars back and forth - loaded gems of street and esoteric knowledge and unique cadence while trading on bars on the same verse , yet somewhat sounding generic and out of place when they had a solo verse - I can now see why this sub-group in the Clik came to existence with "The All". If only "Enta Da Stage" could have been just as concise ...
