Tool (2) – Lateralus

What people don’t understand is that if you just turn that bitch up and focus on the music it shouldn’t matter if there is a little surface noise. Especially when it starts to pick up you can’t even hear it. I think maynard knows that and that’s why he doesn’t care to fix what people think is a “problem” when people can just fix it themselves by just letting go… also what’s funny about it, is that if you actually listen to the album you would notice the album is about letting go lol

I bought this, faithful to finally have a record of Lateralus, but it has a lot of noise while playing it and i barely reach the end of the first side, unplayable. I hope someone is going to create a clean and high quality press of this in the future.

The recording sounds great but this pressing has a lot of noise on it. It sounds like it was cut from the official pic disc which was notoriously noisy.

Is it just my copy? Anyone else experience this?

Mine is literally going to be a barn find for me someday. Not sure where it went...

Love this album, but have the same problems of surface noise and crackling... Guess I have to keep it as there does't seem to be any other alternatives as an LP for Lateralus.

Noisiest record in my fledgling collection. I have dirty beat up thrift store records that pop and crackle less than this. Essentially not worth playing.

As many have already mentioned, this pressing has lots of surface noise and crackling. It is not "unplayable", but also not a very smooth and satisfying experience.

I've bought several of these to compare. The only version with very clear print and vibrant graphics has no matrix etchings and very narrow run-off grooves. Unfortunately, collectors have the reverse assumption where the record that has matrix etchings on both sides and wide run-off grooves is official press. As usual the the bootleg quality is very poor compared the official pressing, but since it was so limited(I would estimate less than 500) collector and discogs information may not be accurate.

This new CB cut is perhaps the.cleanest you can get when it comes to picture discs, sound as clean as a basic black NO, but i have splatter LPs which are more noisy than this, earlier variant was bad, but they have fixed most of the issues on this, sound is great.

buy it people are hard to please these days, especially in this hobby.
