Bought this in late 90's, a bit blurry now, on the recommendation of one Nick Currie, AKA Momus. Thankyou, Sir! I had stored this in the forgfetabout cupboard some years back due to space limitations, as many of you can appreciate I'm sure, so when I found it again I figured... and man, has this held up well! Great digital recording. Can be cranked.referencing Big Loada (CD, EP) WAP 92CD
Fuck Roni Size! If you want proper drum n bass, Squarepusher is obviously where it's at! "Big Loada" is clearly one to never be missed. With such bangers as the outstanding "A Journey to Reedham", quickie galore "Full Rinse", the manic wonder "Come on My Selector", the more chilled "Massif (Stay Strong)", and the rapid beatfest "Tequila Fish", make your money well spent!
Easily a surefire go-for-it with this release! I highly recommend!! :Dreferencing Big Loada (12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP) WAP-92
the tunes, the artwork, the disregard for the conventions of the genre. a great moment for artist and label.referencing Big Loada (12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP) WAP-92
"A Journey to Reedham" for me is another instance of Squarepushers talent to make something beautiful without sacrificing any of his crazy style. "Massif" and "tequila fish" are also songs that follow this kind of style on this album, beautiful melodies and hardcore drums and breaks that are typical for Squarepusher.
The album comes with a lot of amen breaks and provides a lot of new ideas for that time. I guess that is what gives off a very "fresh" feeling.
"Big Loada" is simply great to listen to and is one of those albums showcasing what D'n'B could be if you break free from the genre typical style.referencing Big Loada (12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP) WAP-92
This album changed my life. I was visiting a friend at MICA in Baltimore, and we were walking through all the different student art studios, and this kid was blasting this album while painting. Hearing this album for the first time was like scuba diving for the first time, or flying in an airplane for the first time... it changed the way that I looked at the world. After I heard this album, I only wanted to hear music and make music like this. This album is probably my most significant influence in my musical taste, and I even have the album cover tattooed on my body.referencing Big Loada (CD, EP) WAP 92CD
One of if not the best EP Warp ever issued. Squarepusher at the height of his powers.referencing Big Loada (CD, EP) WAP 92CD
I cant believe nobody has written a comment on this. IMHO it was Squarepushers finest hour (Until I laid my hands on the US Import version that is, which has Big Loada, and Dragon Disk on the same cd... goodies galore)
Tequila Fish being my favourite track.. mental, yet incredibly catchy. Come On My Selector is a jungle masterpiece (Check the video too.. Chris Cunningham(Windowlicker & Come To Daddy vids) on a mission) and the final tune of note here is Full Rinse... if you like heavy breaks.. this one is for you.
If you cant get the Import its still worth buying this one.. tis a class act all the way :))referencing Big Loada (12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP) WAP-92
This is an example how to be mad & funky and also to make experiments in drum'n bass in a perfect way. Tom Jenkinson shows us the future of this genre. Watch out his other releases on Warp, Rephlex and his own label Spymania...
