Great album, but my copy has no numbering. Not a huge deal, just strange for the vinyl to be correct, but not the jacket.referencing The Tales People Tell (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Stereo, Red Translucent, Gatefold) CLMN - 12025
Suberb LP, but I guess the recording is poor ( listen to KEXP live, sounds much better than this studio album )
I have the CD, won't buy the LP, won't be different.
Such a waste !- I agree with the below review. I bought this record a while back but only just now got around to unsealing it and giving it a listen tonight. It comes in a MoFi sleeve which is really nice and shows they actually put some thought into the quality and care of this pressing.
The pressing itself is really, really clean! I didn't even give it a quick cleaning before putting it on (lazy), Just threw it right on the platter and as soon as the needle hit it was dead silent. Very impressive sound quality on both sides, no issues, no warping, no complaints. Seriously, not a single crackle or pop from start to finish on both sides. 140gram I'm guessing?
Either way, in a glut of subpar quality releases these days, this is a very pleasant surprise - a fantastic pressing of one of the most soulful albums in the last 30 years. A masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. Highly recommended. - This review is based on my listening experience using a custom built U-Turn Orbit turntable with a built in Pluto amplifier & a Ortofon 2M Red cartridge paired with Edifier R2000db powered speakers.
I’m not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination but I’m an aspiring one.
This record pressing is impressive. I notice contemporary releases often pale in comparison to audiophile rereleases (like vintage jazz records). Not the case here! Dynamic, quiet, & a stellar pressing.
This is flawless packaging too, quality gatefold with lyrics on a nice paper inside with the anti static inner sleeve. Wow!
The music itself is all Kelly Finnegan. He’s all over the place: drums, piano, arrangement, & obviously vocals. The soul on this record is captivating. I highly recommend along with his group’s latest: Monophonic’ It’s Only Us!
This is an instant classic!
