- Edited 2 years agoI own the 1981 original of SC&M but picked this up for the side 2 tracks and ran a comparison. This is a decent reissue. It’s quieter with the whole EP on one side rather than 3 tracks. A little crackling but not the quality issues others have shared. The mastering is faithful and treats the songs well - cymbal wash is a little reigned in, and the drums are a little tighter in the lows which makes me lean to the original which has a bit more punch and dynamism. It’s a solid option to get all these tracks, given the originals are a bit harder to come across these days.
- Does anyone know if the booklet includes lyrics? I didn't see mention of it in the release notes so I just wanna confirm.
- Rather than being a standalone release, shouldn't this be a version of — perhaps even an existing one — of https://www.discogs.com/master/153667-Mission-Of-Burma-Signals-Calls-And-Marches?
- Matador is quite the careless bunch with quality control on their reissues. I bought a brand new copy with vinyl rot, edgewarp, and what appears to be minor heat damage. Noisy as all heck. I'll settle for an original.
- I have 2 versions. The one with the matrix above has a glossy textured cover. The other has a matte finished cover and adds "M-2" hand written on both sides. This may indicate another mix. I do not know. Anybody got any info?
