- Edited 9 months agoWith some other late-60s hard bop Blue Notes getting a little more attention, I wonder if this one will have its day. At worst, this is Horace Silver doing hard bop about as well as he ever did it; at best, there are some moments on here that could easily make this a higher dollar record if it was released a bit earlier with different artwork, and maybe if it was under someone else's name (Bennie Maupin?). If you can find a copy for a good price, it's easily worth for The Belly Dancer and Brain Wave, the latter of which is (in my opinion) a great, slightly unsettling nod in a post-bop direction that Bennie Maupin and Billy Cobham really tear it up on.
