Quincy Jones – You've Got It Bad Girl

A misspelled version of this record exists with "Lo Conseguistes Muchacha" written on the cover.

The title track is a song written by Stevie Wonder and originally released on his 1972 album Talking Book, and has Jones himself performing lead vocals. The album features another Wonder's compositions, "Superstition", featuring vocals from Bill Withers, Billy Preston and Wonder himself, billed as 'The Beautiful Brothers'
Also included are an instrumental interpretation of the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City"; and "Sanford and Son Theme (The Streetbeater)", which was used for the opening and closing credits themes for the NBC situation comedy Sanford and Son.
The final track on the album, "Chump Change", was first used as the main theme to 1972's The New Bill Cosby Show on CBS, where Jones's orchestra provided music. The CBS game show Now You See It used "Chump Change" as its main theme as well, both in 1974 and on its revival in 1989. It is also used as the main theme to the Dutch radio programme Langs de lijn, as well as the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation´s programme

Let's just forget for a second that this is readily available in second hand shops,carboot sales and record fairs for next to NO money.Then forget about Quincys Donna Summer/Michael Jackson hits (as if it matters) and where its been sampled along the years and years of robbery.At the end of the day this is true entry level soul/funk for anyone with even a passing interest.Arguably the best Quincy Jones release ever (apart from Mellow Madness) which is also a relatively easy find for diggers willing to put in the effort.

One of my favourite Quincy Jones releases in this period, long time before he produced smash pop hit albums for many others like Donna Summer and Michael Jackson's 'Thriller" Album.

Groovey, laidback, perfectly orchestrated. Funky horns 'n organs and some swingin' harmonica's.

Track B4 - 'Chump Change' is the opening tune of the Dutch sports radio programme 'NOS Langs de lijn", which started in 1967, and until now, every sunday afternoon on Dutch national radio.

This release is a masterpiece of pure seventies slo and mid tempo.

The intro version of Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer In The City" was sampled by Nightmare On Wax for his "Night Interlude" track on Warp album Smokers Delight, twenty years later.
