tons of noise, and a skip on Almeda. would not recommend.

Though I'd briefly browsed her discography some months back, When I Get Home is my first thorough Solange experience after chancing upon a copy in a local record sale. The appropriately named LP has a warm and inviting quality, almost like you're a guest at her place. I was initially disappointed by the lack of a CD release, but I think the limited availability also adds to the record's charm. An incredible fusion of Hip-Hop, Downtempo, Jazz, and some of the more retro Electronic styles.

Skips a lot on side a.. the pressing seems to be a little flimsy

The quality control of this release is extremely bad. The record has label residues from overlapping labels; the disc is covered in label shreds; the first three songs on each side are scratched with loud pops. The mastering is decent tho.

Incredible album, bad pressing (or at least invariably so). My copy has skips during Stay Flow, Almeda, and Binz. Depending on how bad skips can be usually determines whether or not I would seek out another copy, and unfortunately the skips here do get in the way of being able to enjoy it and are hard to ignore. I’ll try another copy but be warned.

This album has aged so well !! Others have also mentioned being tepid about his album when it first came out, but it is truly a grower!! The behind the scene features are ridiculous - includes Steve Lacy, Panda Bear, Playboi Carti, Metro Boomin, Earl Sweatshirt... sounds just as fresh as the day it came out. My clear copy came with some paper specks from the inner liners, but after a cleaning, sounds loud & clear to me. Grab it if ya see it!

Like others stated, this album is very hit or miss concerning the quality of the pressing. My first purchase was from UO back when it came out, and though it’s entirely possible I played the album with an incorrectly calibrated counterweight (I don’t recall), track 1 was completely unlistenable and skipped constantly. Even with the correct weight on the 2nd play it was horrible. Luckily I was able to grab a copy months later, again at UO, and it plays beautifully. Although I sorta wish I returned the first one immediately, at least I have some cool wall art now.

Love this woman, after listening and buying “A Seat At The Table” I was stoked to hear the following album. Initially I wasn’t very enthusiastic, but over time this album has REALLY grown on me, so much so that I find myself listening to it more often than ASATT. It features a few songs that are more sonically focused than lyrically (though the lyrics are great nonetheless) compared to the prior album’s entire track listing. For example, “Binz” and “Almeda” have a bit more energy and a more “accessible” sound. Both albums are incredible, but there are differences. Can’t recommend this artist enough, truly one of a kind in today’s world.
