Ben Frost – Dark: Cycle 1 (Original Music From The Netflix Series)

Possibly my favorite original score of all time. Haunting, ominous, atmospheric. Ben Frost hit the nail on the head. I love listening to this on rainy, dreary days.

Sound quality/mastering is pretty spot on. Not flat, not overly bassy. It has an airy, open sound, wide soundstage, which this score really benefits from because it’s very orchestra heavy.

As for the record quality, it’s unfortunately pretty lackluster. Idk what it is with Lakeshore/Invada Records but they need to get their shit together and find a new pressing plant because all of their releases sound notoriously noisy. Pops, clicks, and background static throughout and no amount of cleaning fixes it. It’s very distracting and really disrupts the listening experience, especially since many of the tracks on this album are lower volume so those pops and clicks are that much more noticeable. For the prices Lakeshore is charging for these releases, we deserve high quality, QUIET pressings from Pallas.

Such a haunting OST, Ben never disappoints.

As for the pressing quality: surface noise is present though it never disrupts the listening experience - wonderful mastering nevertheless. [tiny clicks can be heard as well]

Terribly noisy pressing all the time. I don't know what happened here, but it's close to be unlistenable.
