A lot has been written about this exemplary piece of 90s ambient, which gathers more than 2 decades of ambient electronica into a long cd, but I just wanted to highlight how much I like the "dated" parts of it, "9:39" and "7:39", the first one sounding like a lot of Middleton Cosmos touches with the funky guitars, the second one sounding a lot more like Pritchard with Middleton embellishments. Accidentally I used to listen to the album with 9:25 and 9:39 swapped, and its flow benefits quite a lot from that and it feels more like the Reload album where rhythm moody pieces were put between harsh idm and dark ambient ones. Why Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton always skip them in their live shows, I will never know.

If it’s a repress from 1998, why does it say released 1994?

First of all, I was very impressed with this particular release, as compared to my Japanese CD, it just had so much more warmth and soul, that I felt was missing on the CD. Then there was the flamed debate whether to buy this MOVLP as the guys got upset - who could blame them?! (I have no clue as of what/why/who) - but, the fact remains, this is a solid nice looking, nice sounding masterpiece of a release, no matter what.
As I'm finally comparing this with the GC's own 2020 remaster, Transmissions, they do sound different, and the GC remaster is a bit more "sharp" and detailed, but not as well-balanced and warm as the MOVLP, which, again, is better looking as a whole, clear vinyl and labels, no matter if there are printed inner sleeves, on th GC version.
Yes, the box is from The Boys and if you bought it from Warp first hand, they probably received some £ from it (but they will get nothing extra for a re-sold item here on Discogs).
If you have the MOVLP, I think you should be satisfied with a good-looking and very nice sounding slab of clear vinyl, and probably at a very affordable price. Treat yourself!

Ps. The GC remaster is a digital transfer from the original DAT tape, as pointed out in the box.
Ps II. They should have catalogued it as MOVLP7614 ;)

Imagine a record company whom well within their rights commissions a well regarded Dutch reissue label to release a licensed version of one of their artists work and whom then proceeds to release THE definitive version of said work and then.... the artist moans, makes a false statement, claims they are getting nothing (which is fair enough because they sold out long ago) and then proceed to release their own "approved" version which ends up being utterly inferior in every single way.

Because thats whats actually happened lol.

This one is close to 11/10, MOV have smashed my expectations once again

Some music reaches such a high level that the year it was produced/released doesn't even matter anymore, it becomes timeless and will remain relevant and interesting beyond our existence. This album is a great example of such music. Stunning.

As for the reissue, I didn't have a chance to listen to the original but my copy sounds excellent.

A beautifully mastered and pressed version of this amazing album. No noises, warps or issues with my copy, in fact it is one of the cleanest and clearest I've heard in a while, perfect given the quietness of some of the tracks. Nice packaging too

I just received and played this edition, it's well mastered and dynamic! Unfortunately...noisy first side on disk 1 and disk 2 is warped as some folks here have reported. Also, non fill on side 2, track 2. A bit disappointing as the package is well done with redone artwork reflecting a more minimalist view.

I just received this today. Based on the comments below I played LP #2 first. No warp and sounds great, I love it!

What a great pressing, clean and rich all the way through with little to no surface noise (records are shipped in poly-lined paper sleeves). Pretty gatefold presentation, too. This is what records should be like.

I honestly know basically nothing about the controversy surrounding this release, but short of it being some sort of illegal bootleg, I'm not letting it get in the way, especially since the comments on this MOV version are more unanimously positive regarding SQ than the other.
