Fantômas – The Director's Cut

Great pressing of all 2024 releases! Alot of dynamic, sounding very clean, bright. Great mastering, great pressing, great polygraphy. Strongly recommended. Waiting for Delìrium Còrdia re-release.

Superbe pressing. Sounds good overall in all frequenties. No surface noise... but other noise 😉.... the great noise of fantomas. Awesome album. Their best in my opinion!

I’m actually surprised how good these Fantomas pressings turned out. For such chaotic music the chaos is well defined and separated. Low end in mix is amazing. Some surface noise but more than likely just new vinyl and not disruptive at all.

This is also still $60 from the retailer directly, don't pay ridiculous money just yet people. €150.00 on the Discogs marketplace and it's still up for retail purchase!

Pressing is fine, definitely some surface noise between tacks but there's enough going on in each song that it doesn't intrude on the listening experience. Side A has very little dead wax left so you may run into some fidelity issues with Spider Baby. Poster is nothing to write home about, it's just a larger print of the inside of the booklet that came with the original CD, and neither the front or rear cover has any of the gold foil flourishes of the original CD versions (similar to the reissue of Tomahawk (6) - Mit Gas by Ipecac last year).

All that said this is still an absolute monster of an album that is to this day the high water mark of the Fantômas catalogue, and I don't regret buying this pressing at all.

Took a chance and ordered a copy. It sounds great, I only wish the packaging was a little better but it’s an unofficial release. Definitely worth it.

Very silent, no noise.
The Stage could be a bit more open, but it sounds fantastic if you mind that.

another of Patton's finest musical achievements outside his tenure of FNM's classic rock status and Mr Bungle's often bonkers premise is this album. backed by two of the finest musicians of metal King Buzzo and Dave Lombardo (not forgetting Trevor Dunn!) they literally smash and reinterpret some of the silver screen's finest scores. whether its the crazy speed metal treatment The Godfather and Ave Satani get, there are also some outright heavy tracks on here such as Henry's theme and Der Golem. by far the best track is the absolutely enormous remake of the Twin Peaks theme, which blends trip-hop drumming, sludge guitars and some lyrics to compliment the song. There's also some bit of references to his previous bands, such as Experiment in Terror sounding like a late 90s FNM track and the remake of Vendetta having a sort of Mr Bungle California bop to it.

Fantomas would continue to put out good albums, but nothing would top this one. I've recently bought the vinyl press so i hope with that its like rediscovering this classic Patton album all over again.
