- Just got this variant on a sale directly from Ipecac. (They always run a bigger stock than the “limited” one) Glad I got this one. Smokey color is beautiful. Soundwise, it can be better.
- I really don't know what you guys are talking about. I bought the Brown copy of this album in Ireland, and I've heard no butcher in Mike Patton's voice, nor any decompression on Kevin Rutmanis' bass.
The only issue I have with it is that it skips continuously, but that's likely due to my record player, since I have a cheap Crosley one. - Hard disagree with the assessment that this is a botched mastering- and pressing job. The parts where vocals are distant are mixing decisions, not mistakes. Mine has clean and dynamic sound, no surface noise, bass is killer.
Hard to tell if the people complaining below got bad pressings or have the wrong expectations on how this should sound. - Unfortunately I have to agree with other commenters here that this pressing and remastering job has been completely botched. Muffled, muddy, and distant sound - vocals and drums suffer the most - with audible dropouts in volume at certain points. Weird aural details stand out in expense of the rest of the instruments. It does a complete disservice to the recording and the players involved. Kevin Rutmanis' bass has never sounded this bad. This is a complete mess.
- Interesting that there are mixed reports of good and bad pressings regarding sound quality, yet every copy for sale here is sealed so you won't know if you're getting good or bad.
- TERRIBLE PRESSING..... Compressed , no dynamics, no sound stage , muddy , I can barely even hear the hi-hat or symbols. Just gross Patton Sounds like he's singing from underneath a pillow... Why bother repressing it or reissuing a great album if you're going to give it zero respect.... Stay Away
- Definitely better than the boxed version.
No pops/cracks.
Be sure to clean every LP before playing the first time !
Mit/Gas/Anonymous will be released on the 2nd of june ! - The only downside is the lack of an insert with lyrics or liner notes. The sound is KILLER and the smoky color is dope!
- Sounds really muddled. I would expect to hear Patton clear, but nope. I want Patton in my face, not two rooms away.
