I personally like this album. While it isn’t as heavy and fast as their previous releases, it still carries on the pop-sensibility that they’ve always had. Most of the songs are catchy, and although some songs are clunkers, it’s 26 minutes long so it’s easy to listen to as a whole. I completely understand why so many people dislike this album and they have every right to (and more power to you!), but I’ve always liked this record (even from release day, when I bought it and waited hours for that YouTube live show/release party they did that day), despite the lackluster reviews kind of dragging it down.

I really like the Foxboro Hot Tubs vibe on some of the songs here. 'Fire, Ready, Aim' and 'Stab You in the Heart' certainly channel this sound. The title track had me wary with Billy's high and produced vocals, but has grown on me, and after seeing a live version on Howard Stern, I was sold. It is a fun song. 'Oh Yeah!' is another different sound for the band. I am still deciding on this one. 'Meet Me on the Roof' is a poppy, 60s sounding jive. 'I Was a Teenage Teenager' is a clever title with some nostalgic lyrics and a simple beat and melody, but not an outstanding song. 'Sugar Youth' is cool, simple rocker. 'Junkies On High' is quite forgettable and I can't see it getting many plays from me. The last two songs sound a little like the pop-rock stuff I have been listening to lately and whilst fun, are not standouts. As a whole this album is bit over-produced in parts for my liking, but I like the simpler direction of the songs. I much prefer their Foxboro Hot Tubs' sounds than their emo, rock-opera efforts.
3.5/5

Really good pressing by Precision Record Pressing/GZ Media in Canada.
It is a short album but I think it is great. Not a magnus opus but who cares.
There is nothing sweeter than a good rock and roll LP at a dirt cheap price.
Mine is the black vinyl version.

Theres something very "Not Punk" about selling a special edition of an album where the only difference is a swearword not being censored

I bought this as a collectible not expecting it to sound great, and I was pleasantly surprised. While it doesn't make up for the general overproduction the audio quality is fantastic with zero surface noise. This has not been my experience with most Green Day releases so I think I may be lucky.
