One of Steve Rachmad's best work. A deep, hypnotic and funky album. Pure deep techno with a strong Detroit vibe.
I far prefer this earlierversion then the remastered/remixed version. Favourite tracks : Satyrican,Mysterium, Draghixia, although all tracks are really great.- Edited 2 years ago

the hacking up of astronotes on this and rearranging and loosing Satyricon was a big mistake - on the original there was nothing better than hearing astronotes dissolve abd rebuild over its 3 stages, the best moment of the album. - Edited 2 years ago

Now that we've been offered The Missing Secrets we can all focus on the upsides of this beauty ;))
one thing however: I've spotted a super narrow/shallow groove at the beginning of "thera" so chances are some stylee/tonearms may be unable to track it properly and may skip forward/backwards depending on your anti-skating accuracy.
if the opening 8 seconds of d2 plays clean w/out skips or distortion - you got some properly aligned playback system (: referencing Secret Life Of Machines (CD, Album) Pure CD 1
Steve Rachmad is a master builder of soulful, trancey techno, and this album is a case in point. There are so many exquisite tracks here, but my favorite is "Satyricon", which really 'takes me somewhere'. I was disappointed to see that 100% Pure omitted that track from the 2012 remastered reissue. But above all, this LP should remind us of the sheer emotional potential of machine music.referencing Secret Life Of Machines (CD, Album) Pure CD 1

I can't believe these idiots didn't repress the 95 version track of secret life of machines. This rearranged remaster "original mix" has sucked the soul out of that gem. I don't get why they just didn't repress the full original 95 album instead of adding all this other unnecessary crap. Seriously wtf !? referencing Secret Life Of Machines (Remastered) (2×12", 33 ⅓ RPM, 45 RPM, Album, Remastered) PURE LP011
still waiting for draghixia, hydroxy and satyricon to get re-cut and reissued the way they deserve. secret life and sitting on clouds make this repress a valueable possesion, but i'd still insist on publishing the missing tracks (if possible).referencing Secret Life Of Machines (2×LP, Album) PURE LP 1
The whole album is great, don't get me wrong, but "Satyricon" is the bottom line for 1990 Deep House. I was suprised to learn this track is from the Netherlands and not from Detroit, when I found out.referencing Secret Life Of Machines (CD, Album) Pure CD 1
Overrated album however, the title track "Secret Life Of Machines" is very beautiful melancholic techno. "Hydroxy" and "Sitting On Clouds" are my other two picks, not nearly as good as the title track, but better than most of the remaining track of the tracks which aren't that impressive. Based on one review here at Discogs, people apparently rave a lot about track 11 "Astronotes" Most of the track didn't get my attention, although it gets better at the end. "Secret Life Of Machines" is a MUST for any techno listener / collector. "Hydroxy" and "Sitting On Clouds" are enjoyable and respectably good. If only the title track was longer (It is unfortunately somewhat short) and managed to take advantage of the longer duration without adding any irrelevant dragging. 6/5 for me ;)- Edited 9 years ago

Still a great release in 2015, I picked up the repress pretty cheap it is missing Satyricon as many have mentioned before but I think even without this track it stands the test of time and still sounds current.
