Bump – I'm Rushing

WTF so there's no love for the martian mix. Absolute blasphemy imo, the track is pretty much drenched in 90s nostalgia and feel quite humbled ive come across this track.

First heard this on a Sasha tape. Classic. Cant believe how cheap it is to pick up on here.

OMG so many terrible remixes of this track here, but Valentine & Morena's club mix just about saves it. hands in the air moment. but just about.

Sunday nights 'Bounce' @ the Underground Cafe. Kings Cross Sydney Australia 1992 was where i first heard this track.
This was one of those amazing releases which typified that era. 5/5

I remember hearing John Peel play this on the radio and in his deadpan voice he said “and I don’t think they’re talking about rushing for the bus”.

Great vocal "I know I am Rushing Just a little little Bit To Fast", simple but very effective bassline and synth hook, the track just builds layer on layer introducing new elements, strings / additional percussion injecting a bit more energy, chopped up vocals etc. Great tune with plenty of mixes to choose from along with some addition remixes over the years.

the Pussy 2000 mixes do not contain any piano element of Congress 40 Miles. I have the double pack and have wasted money on buying based on 'Lewisdene review', the bump vs congress was pressed on the clear flexi disc, and was on a booty both which very rarely appear on discogs.

A hit twice before and looking likely to make it a hat trick with this amazing Pussy 2000 Bootleg Mix. Taking the piano melody from Congress' "40 Miles" Steve Travell and Mark Auerbach's early-nineties rave favourite now sounds even better. Opening chants crowd noises, and a half-tempo vocal line over the slowed-down sample create the perfect platform and anticipation for that awesome piano line to eventually cut through. Pussy 2000 have done an excellent job of anchoring the track with a user-friendly contemporary house beat without trashing the appeal of the original recording - Travell's involvement with both camps an aid rather then hindrance. A stellar house music comeback of epic proportions.

I was 22 when this track was released and having grown out of the big outdoor parties and raves of the time, I started hitting the clubs once again where, in the winter of 1992, Bumps I'm Rushing was blowing up everywhere.

While it's obviously now well passed it's sell by date and, in the great scheme of things, is probably a rather ordinary dance track in comparison to most of the others, the fact remains that this is one of only a handful of tracks that many people would say captured perfectly the general mood and feelings of a lot of people of a certain age at that particular time. Using a fairly simple and obvious sample, which is driven along with a snappy break that comes into its own midway through, the real nostalgic magic and poigancy of Bump's I'm Rushing comes with the simple yet appropriate stuttering lyrics, which when it was bellowing out of speakers in dark sweaty nightclubs in the UK in 1992 is exaclty what we were doing.
