Kenny G (2) – Duotones

Bought it on 2025. Very crisps sound. Perfectly preserved. Makes me want to buy more secondhand vinyl.
The track list on the back sleeve is out of order.

This is my very first Kenny G record! And I decided to choose the Japan version, and it turns out never a disappointment to me, the soundscape on this one is wide, as I can heard the details of his saxophone whistles on the high notes! ^^

So happily to get this on decent price and in good condition!

This is the second generation CD of "DUOTONES" (1986) as it has the song "SONGBIRD" as the first track on the CD . The first edition CD has eleven (11) tracks and includes the song "AND YOU KNOW THAT" as track six (6) .The second edition CD ( this one ) has only ten (10) tracks and does not have the song "AND YOU KNOW THAT" in the track listing .

I bought "DUOTONES"(1986) by KENNY G without hearing any of the songs on this album .This is the first generation CD as "WHAT DOES IT TAKE (TO WIN YOUR LOVE)" is the first song on this CD and NOT "SONGBIRD" as it is on later editions .It also has eleven (11) songs on it and includes "AND YOU KNOW THAT " (track 6 ), which later editions have excluded on that particular CD . I had never heard of KENNY G or any of the songs on this album until I bought it when I was in the UNITED STATES NAVY and I was stationed at NAVAL AIR STATION ROTA , SPAIN overseas . Upon first listening , I thought that I had bought a BLOCKBUSTER ALBUM and I was right !
KENNY G was the saxophonist for the group THE JEFF LORBER FUSION before going solo . "DUOTONES"(1986) is his fourth album . His three (3) previous releases are
: "KENNY G" (1982) , G FORCE" (1983) and "GRAVITY" (1985) .

I can't believe I actually liked this album in the late 80s. I even bought two cassettes, one for me and one for my sister. And then I bought the follow-up on vinyl as a gift for a friend !! Vinyl was very expensive then. Yucks.

My copy is near mint, and a great pressing.

"And You Know That" is a really good and funky track that is only available on some CD releases. Quite different in comparison to the rest of the album, and much more in the vain of G's previous work (with Jeff Lorber and Kashif).
