A stunning album by Supersilent.
"8.1" is a masterpiece of Lovecraft-ian proportions. An electronic machine that radiates subsonic frequencies that awaken new sensations, opening a gateway to some otherworld, and then turning it to a monstrous dance of sick kraut grooves. Then the paralytic improvisation "8.2" practically transforms this otherworld to music. The terror of the human experience in an alien place in space and time, where the limited sensations cannot adequately comprehend what's happening.
"8.3" adds a rhythm, but it still feels as alien as traveling blindfold in a glass labyrinth under an ultraviolet spectrum. You can't "see" it, but you can "sense" it. Then "8.4" is a glacial threnody for the world that is left behind. Still adjusting to this new phase of existence, "8.5" blends the narrow personal with the cosmic whole, where ultimately the cosmic prevails. Then "8.6" displays still more confusion of the senses, in a gelatinous sea of digital bleeps, where finally an alien siren sings an incomprehensible hymn from beyond the infinite.
After yet another devastating attack on the senses through the deformed lens of infinite outer space with "8.7", the epilogue "8.8" doesn't offer any conclusions, merely doubt and uncertainty.
Supersilent have transcended the synthesis of jazz, improvisation, avant-garde and electronica. Theirs is a new music now, a mutant symbiosis of the afore-mentioned genres, but which has acquired a new guise of it's own. Being able to convey powerful emotions and impressions, Supersilent now belong amongst the "philosophers" of popular music.
