"Running" was remixed and re-released as follows:
Running (2001 Tommy Boy Silver Label remixes)
Running (2002 Blanco Y Negro (2) remixes, released in Spain)
Running 2K14 (Remixes) (a 2014 Tommy Boy release)

The B1 track is pure electro sex. Reminds me of the Latin Rascals, which is no surprise because the Latin Rascals worked on this record. I think there is some confusion on whether this is the Nest or the Instrumental version on YouTube. On my copy, B1 is the Instrumental.

I actually got the instrumental of this on a MISPRINT of a TKA 12" single located on its b-side.

This is near impossible to find. Can anyone post this to YouTube so we can get a link to the "vocal edit" instead of the 12" version?

As the only version before this features (by all accounts) a version which doesn't manage to live up to Rob Schwitters' dope production, I'd put this one as the essential pre- Tommy Boy release. By the way, the instrumental version on this plate you won't hear in the you tube up loads- almost all are the edits from the Tommy Boy releases. Believe me, it's every bit as good, and every part as much a B-Boy classic, especially towards the end with frantic stabs, key changes & sampler mayhem.

Last word- don't overlook the vocal. It's incredible, and brings back the feeling of the era with raw emotion. Overlooked at the time, but now hugely appreciated...

One of the most beautiful tracks of the 80's,or of any decade.Despite being a Hip Hop/Electo freak I love the vocal almost as much as the instrumental. After selling my copy about 20 years ago,I have very recently bought another copy and to me it sounds better than ever,it is up there with any other electro classic.geat beats ,synths and vocals atmospheric and full of brilliance and i don't think I am using hyperbole.

The truth is, both versions (the original 1983 and 1988 vocal remix) have the same vocals, Murat Konar. Kurt Harland never sang "Running" on records, but in shows. The main diference between these versions is the vocal reverbs and delay effects, better mastering and extra effects in some instruments, and the inclusion of "The Swamp", another song with same instruments from "Running" into the 1988 remix. Both "Running" and "The Swamp", the early versions, are listed on "Creatures Of Influence" release (CD, 12").

Running will be one of my all time classics. It combines two styles that I died for in those days, Electro Hip Hop and New Wave. It´s like listening to a Soulsonic Force Track with the Pop mood of ABC. There´s nothing comparable to this song and even plenty of bootleg remixes of the 90s and nowadays can´t catch the original spirit.

This wass the original version of a classic. The vocals by Murat are absolutely horrible and are almost truly unlistenable (thanks Kurt for your later version!). The production is crude and listless but shows a glimmer of promise. Thankfully, Paul Robb (Schwitter is Robb) later remade this and made it the gem it became. If it at first you don't succeed...
