- Great bass, incredible sound. Just wish I could compare it to other editions. Still think it is stunningly clear and magnificent.
- Excellent press quality for a "modern" reissue, easily beating out my 1986 copy. Highly recommended.
- My favorite Depeche Mode album. I own the CD and ‘86 US vinyl release. I have to say this sounds better than both. Someone criticized it as being too harsh in the high end but I totally disagree. The bass and low ends are booming for me . I love these DM reissues because the covers are so well done and I like the commentary inside the gatefold. I’m listening to A Question of Lust as I type this and it still moves me the same way it did in 1986. Brings back so many memories of love and relationships in my youth. ❤️
- Note for any collectors: the later 2014 reissue/repressing of this CD/DVD :
https://www.discogs.com/release/5547434-Depeche-Mode-Black-Celebration/image/SW1hZ2U6MjIxNjA3MjQ= scrimps on the embossed symbols which are not printed on the digipak front cover nor the four black panels inside the gatefold. The only surviving element is the tulips image at the bottom of the right panel with 'life in the so-called space age' legend. Bit disappointing for this to not be done as it is an integral part of the album's artwork! - Edited 4 months agoImportant observation to bear in mind about this later reissued version of the 'collector's edition' CD/DVD: In keeping with a lot of later reissues/repressings, the packaging has also been economised for this one: the outer cover does not have the 10 embossed (or spot varnised as was the case) symbols that are arranged in two columns of 5 either side of the main image, as seen on the original release or indeed the original vinyl LP. They only appear printed on the inside booklet.
Neither do four of these symbols appear on the four black gatefold panels (2x left and 2x right) of the digipak.
(Refer to this original issue for reference:

The only thing that still appears printed is the small image of the tulips and the 'life in the so-called space age' legend at the bottom of the right hand outer digpak panel. This is obviously a result of cost-cutting and print limitations and I think it is a bit of a total swizz to be honest. Just be aware if you are purchasing this later reissued edition, this is what you will be getting! - Its a shame that the 10 bonus audio tracks included on the DVD were not also made available on the CD.

referencing Black Celebration (LP, Album, Embossed Cover)
The sound quality of this release is mind-blowing, it’s a mystery why no one else has commented on it so far. I also have the US vinyl version of the album and the Japanese pressing wins in comparison to it- it is recorded louder and the vinyl itself is quieter, the dynamics are impressive, the details are immediate and easy to distinguish, the trackability is easier (Dressed In Black is the only track prone to some inner groove distortion on the vocals). This seems to be the version to have. - My copy was bought factory sealed. Very, very quiet pressing up to the final two tracks on the B side. I did nothing but brush it before playing each side. The noise on the final couple of tracks is only noticeable on the quietest sections. Overall I am very happy with this one. Lot's of detail in each song to enjoy.
