Reviews
- Edited one year agoAlbum Revolution # 2: And "Away We A Go-Go"!!!!! After "Smokey Robinson & The Miracles" killed it on "Going To A Go-Go", the group followed it up with an almost equal album here....Now I know that songs like "The Tracks Of My Tears" and "Ooo Baby Baby" are not present here, but there is plenty to choose from..."Whole Lot Of Shakin' In My Heart (Since I Met You)", gets the album off on the right foot...."(Come 'Round Here) I'm The One You Need" and "Swept For You Baby" and "Save Me", are the Crown Jewels of the album....There is an very interesting take on "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep", but I am sure it's only because people are used to "The Temptations" version....I sure people felt equally about "Walk On By"...Unlike songs of today, it seemed like back them that "Romantic Love" dominated the music seen (I'm sure it also had something to do with the way "Smokey" wrote songs)...Those examples are here in songs like: "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "Oh Be My Love", "Can You Love A Poor Boy" and the very good "More, More, More Of Your Love"....I get it, there are no edge to these songs at all, but like I said, there was more energy put into the lyrics (the energy for the music comes later)...With that being said, I still don't know why I slept on the "Smokey Robinson & The Miracles" albums....I guess I had to get a little older in order to appreciate them like they deserved!!!!
- Discogs you need to inform the sellers to stop labeling their stereo lps in the mono section because there's a difference. The jacket should say the word Stereo on it. Too much goes out to mailing and returning for a refund.
