I've just picked this up Mint off a wonderful discogs seller listing it at cost rather than the inflated prices some are charging.
Wonderful pressing and remaster, absolutely superb. And the album.... just wow, I'm so utterly blown away by this, it's such a beautiful and emotive piece of work, absolutely staggering!

Ok. I purchased a Mint copy of this from a personal connection. The pressing is as close to silent as a record this quiet from this time in the label could be, and let me explain two important details many people are forgetting:

1. Modern classical composers don't sell records like rock starts - they especially didn't in 2009.
2. This is quiet music.

No one should expect a perfect DMM, hot stamp pressing on these early Richter albums. The label nor he could afford the attention these quiet recordings needed on wax. Now that Richter is making more money and working with larger labels, his vinyl releases from 2015 and on will likely have been given the attention for better sound quality--because he is selling more.

This album was pressed AS GOOD as any other FatCat album at the time. It's just the quietest passage may have some interruption. I give the pressing a B. It is NOT terrible. Just spend the dough to get a mint copy like I did and it's worth it. These works are beautiful and the predecessors to his opus, The Blue Notebooks. My copy was a rewarding experience and I didn't have to play it on a low volume to enjoy. My set up is a $10k system, that would pick up every little defect, but there were few. Just surface noise because the label couldn't afford the "white glove - hot stamp" treatment.

Expect this to eventually get the pressing it deserves, but for now, this is a great collector piece for fans of Richter, the label and the genre.

I guess I was very lucky as reading the reviews on here I really was expecting the worst, yet mine is flawless, absolutely no crackles or pops whatsoever.

This is a remarkable album, but it seems (to my ears at least) to have been mastered poorly. There are some parts that are so quiet that I can barely hear them, at which point I turn up the volume. Then, then come the parts that are blaring, and since you've already turned up your speakers to hear the soft parts, it's almost painful.

It seems that sensible adjustment of the levels during the mastering process could have avoided this problem altogether. As a result, a great set of pieces that I don't listen to as much as I'd like or as much as the music deserves.

Has anybody else had the same experience with this recording? Are other versions any better?

Well the flac version has no surface noise(!) but there is a little hiss here and there (probably intentional ambience to go with the whispers etc.) None of this should affect one's listening pleasure, sadly the melancholia drenched music leaves me a little stupified, a touch more drama to keep refreshing the 'aching sadness' taste buds. As things stand this music needs to be carefully assessed before selection. The fat brassy stabs at the end maybe should have been brought into play a little earlier. Still, all in all, a very good piece of work.

Can any owner comment on the quality of this pressing please? As two other vinyl pressings seems to be quite poor :(
Thank you in advance!

Anyone knows what exactly is "Deluxe" about this version?
