I got my copy day 1, kept it sealed until today to see what people were complaining about. I haven't experienced any of the surface noise or popping others experienced. I suppose a large bad batch slipped through quality control, while some are okay. My copy is clean for both LPs on all sides, aside from the occasional natural crackles.

Whoa, contrary to everyone here but the copy I got sounds amazing! It’s so crisp and clear on all sides, I can really hear the difference from the streaming version. And to think I almost sold mine because I was worried...guess it’s really luck

I have the same issue with surface noise on all sides (as others have discussed). It makes it no fun to listen to.

I can confirm the black variant doesn't have any of the surface noise issues that have been noted on others. Mine sounds perfect. It went to the clearance bin so fast (I got it for $11.99)...they really didn't need to press all of these different variants on 2 LPs.

My copy is incredibly warped. I do not notice any issues with play back sound quality, but it’s a trip to watch it go around.

After reviewing the standard release of this C.D. on 6th October slating the playing time , just over 34 minutes, and the 2 tracks just used to pad this album out, I have since purchased the Japanese Deluxe version and what a difference. Now 20 tracks and better sound quality and running in at over 76 minutes. The bonus tracks are excellent especially Ecstasy and the fast paced rhythmic c Tondo. After listening to this new version I have grown to enjoy the tracks from the single release even more. In fact, I would go as far as to say this surpasses their other two albums by a long way, and they were excellent albums in their own right. I like their change in direction and can highly recommended this release.

So I am more focused on music than technical flaws in the pressings. BUT - I was playing this to a bunch of friends tonight and they were all "is there something wrong with your needle"? . Sides C, D... surface noise is insane

I’m a big Disclosure fan and was looking forward to listening to this new C.D.(released a few weeks ago). What a big disappointment. The playing time is a measly 43 minutes. The gatefold cardboard cover is very poor. I agree with other reviewers-the 2 short tracks are just thrown on to pad the album out. The remaining 9 tracks range from fairly good to very good. Nice to hear Kelis on vocals on the opening track. Amazing voice. If this c.d. cost £6-7 it would have been a reasonable price to pay. £10.99 is definitely poor value. Of course I will purchase the Deluxe Version(20 tracks) as long as it costs no more than £13.00. I shouldn’t be surprised at the tactics record companies use on new releases. My favourite band, Yello, employed the same sort of ploy with their latest(and Brilliant) album Point. The difference is their Deluxe Box set, is exactly that. Deluxe. Reassuringly expensive but well worth the outlay. Record companies please note. You can only fleece customers a few times, and then it begins to feel as though you are taking the piss once to often.

Sides C and D have a lot of surface noise, sides A and B are only slightly better. Definitely a lower quality pressing when compared to "Settle" and "Caracal".

Overall, I'm disappointed by this album. It's a short album and I get the impression that the interludes were added as filler merely to bring the album over 40 minutes. There really aren't any standout tracks on this album, with "My High" and "Douha (Mali Mali) definitely being the strongest of the lot. "Reverie" is pretty decent too and would not sound out of place on either "Settle" or "Caracal".

I recall reading that over 200 tracks were written by Disclosure for this album. If the tracks on Energy were the cream of the crop, I can only imagine what the others must sound like. I guess my expectations were high for this album and in my opinion, Disclosure did not deliver. There is no cohesive sound to this album and if I had to describe the vibe of this album, I would call it a "garage house world music" album. That's fine, I like world music, but I can find much better world music at my local new age shop.

I'd rate this album 2 out of 5 stars.

Pressing is flawless!. I ordered the clear vinyl version but to got two beautiful marbled ones instead. A plus in my book. As said below, the digital download is in 24-bit wav format. Only wish the digital download included the deluxe version. But I have Qobuz for that.
