The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band – Vol. 3 - A Child's Guide To Good & Evil

Jackpot records have a very nice catalog of reissue, with very good mastering... But, there is none quality control on their pressing !
I receive this one with a large white stain on wax which causing a big distorsion, I've returned it to the shop. I bought also this Underground on blue wax, and received a copy completely veiled and warped... unplayable copy. I received this It's A Long Way Down red vinyl also warped... On an order of 8 records, 3 are defective. So, be attentive when you receive a jackpot Record.

What apparently Newbury did to remedy the issue was slip another corrected lp in the outer sleeve and leave the lp with the error inside the sleeve. In any case that is what happened in my case.so I got two lps. One correct and one a different West Coast album all for 9.99

This listing is confusing. Notes section would suggest this is ONLY for the 50 autographed copies. But those notes seem to be piggybacking on the main listing. Likely should be modified to something like:

Jackpot Records also sold 50 copies signed by John Van Hamersveld. Same release otherwise.

The U.K original is very very hard to find. Its one of the true bizzzare psychedelic classics from the U.S. that actually got pressed over here! It sold in tiny quantities. The cover alone, laminated of course, is an ultimate piece of art but the music transports you to another place... If you can afford one, buy it.

By far the best of their 3 albums on Reprise, superb songwriting and musicianship. If you only want one album by this band, A Child's Guide to Good and Evil is the one to get. I love all 3, but this one is the one I keep coming back to. Highly recommended.

Music and pressing are great! Surely a psych album with a better listening experience and the pressing is quiet! Recommended!

This sounds really beautiful. Can recommend… the vinyl is lovely to hold and look at as well. I have left the hype sticker on for now

Nice mono pressing on turquoise vinyl. Track info on the sleeve is wrong, labels are correct. Traverses the space between folk sounds and studio psychedelic manipulation. Recommended.

I believe all of these were mis-pressed and are in fact Vol. 2. At least my copy was!
Plus the track listing is all over the place anyway. What a mess!

Finally I actually have a copy of Vol 3.
I held off and didnt get the Jackpot reissue. Im sure its good, but knowing this album only had a Stereo mix I decided to go with this new MOV reissue.
It sounds good as their reissues usually do. I would like a bit more clarity to vocals and bass punch which I suspect someone like Kevin Gray could accomplish, but Im happy enough. The Stereo is no gimmick and adds to the sound and atmosphere nicely.
The pressing is clean and the packaging well recreated. A great effort.
