this is a great japan replication of the first 1977 classic debut damned lp replicated to look just like the first eddie & the hot rods misprint from february 1977 ( wich was later admitted was not a mistake) and there where 2.000 units pressed, they are so hard to get complete w/ the shrink wrap that THIS IS THE BEST NEXT THING to the original as the record was pressed in high quality 180 gram JAPAN VINYL and sounds fantastic!!!!! all is replicated perfect here with the exception of this 30th ann edition from 2007 not having the shrink wrap replicated, anyway this also comes with nice japan inserts regarding analog in japanese and again is a high quality pressing of one of the best punk rock records EVER made!!!!!! i do not know how many of these where pressed but they are NUMBERED COPIES & my number is 542... on the hype sticker....

This is a fantastic, punchy-sounding pressing of a classic album. You can hear alot of crisp details that were pretty muddy before.

For the 96 people who have this fake issue, what do you think of it? How would you rate it, compared to other versions, including CD, that you’ve heard?

I just stumbled onto and bought, for $20, a sealed but slightly rumpled copy of this “repress” from a used bookstore, thinking it may have been old, overstock of an ‘80s or ‘90s reissue. Once I cracked it open at night and saw absolutely no matrix information in the deadwax, I knew it had to be a grey market ish. Less than 10 seconds into spinning it, it screamed fake fake fake. Mastered at a crazy low volume; compressed. I should have first spent 5 min. researching on Discogs to survey for fakes, but too late now.

The only other copy I have is the original US cassette that I used to blast in my car stereo in the mid-1990s. Even that DDD sounded fuller, punchier than this faux “German repress”. So, how bad or not so bad, are you rating this one, compared to legitimate iterations?

This anniversary remaster is easily the best way of listening to this classic album: the pressing is superb and the remaster has changed the tonal balance to increase the prominence of the vocals and cymbals, without losing the grungy bass sound of the original release. The energy and exuberance is enhanced but the visceral impact that set this album apart from other punk albums remains. That is no mean feat given that the master tapes no longer exist, having been recorded over by another artist on the Stiff roster – but then New Rose was itself recorded on tape previously used by Elvis Costello!

I have nothing to compare this to, but it sounds alright to me. Maybe slightly compressed

I got this when I was visiting Omaha where Drastic Plastic is located. I’m pretty blown away by this pressing, sounds fantastic!
