Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is the seventh studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 11 April 1988 by the EMI label in Europe, and its sister label Capitol in North America. It was re-released on 2002 by Sanctuary/Columbia in the United States.

Like The Number of the Beast and, later, Fear of the Dark, The Final Frontier and The Book of Souls, it debuted at No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart. It also marks the first appearance of many progressive rock elements which would be used frequently in later albums, seen in the length and odd time signatures of the title track "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son", and by the fact that it is a concept album.

My copy of this sounds great but I don't have any other version to compare it to. Anyone know why this very nice German pressed version goes for so much less than others version? A regular US original goes for >$50 all day even though I have generally found European, and specifically German, pressses to be superior to US.

This cd sounded fantastic when I bought it and still sounds fantastic now. no need for a remaster its perfect the way it is. IMO If you want this on cd get one of these and there is no issue with the "volume wars" destruction of the new remasters. Iron Maiden concept album...and what I consider the 2nd album of Maiden phase 2. Which started with Somewhere in Time.
