Reviews
At the bottom right of the front cover (shown in one photo here) a mushroom is growing through the tarmac. With the word "mushroom" underneath, it represents Mushroom Records. The artist, Niels Hutchison, refused to draw in the firm's official logo – an Amanita muscaria mushroom, red with white spots – considering it too naff.
When Michael Gudinski took the artwork interstate for printing, he included the logo inside the gatefold and nefariously claimed copyright of the entire artwork for Mushroom.referencing Living In The 70's (Cassette, Album) C35299
My copy of this cassette has identical packaging, but the tapes inside are different. Instead of paper labels pasted on grey plastic housing, printing is done directly on the white plastic tape itself. The serial number (C35299) and tracks are the same, but the layout is different. Also, the early logo (a cartoon of an hallucinogenic mushroom as seen on the external packaging) is replaced on the tape itself with Mushroom's updated "jazzy" design.referencing Living In The 70's (CD, Album, Reissue) CD 53142
This is the 'Gold" edition, 10 years since the first release. The original brown card on which the cover art was painted has been overprinted in gold. The gold printing is very badly misregistered on the front of this copy.
Both names of the cover artist, Niels Hutchison, are misspelt as "Neils Hutchinson". But Mushroom no longer stakes a claim to copyright of his artwork, probably due to the legal action taken by the artist.
This is pure rock'n'roll folks! ||||||| i've just bought it today & listening to it... ||||| it blew my mind away!- not sure if it's original or someone did it once they bought it, but my press has 49 before the matrix smx 45157 on side 1 and 69 before the number smx 45158 on side 2. Anyone know if that's normal or why it may be there?
- Edited 3 years agoHow rare is this black label version. I've only ever seen it on this discogs page and never for sale ever, just the common browny/ yellow later label version..

b) cat# 53142 not followed by 'didz-10153'
c) 'made in japan' does not appear beneath 'Australian Recording'.
