Kiss – Hotter Than Hell

No idea what they used as a master, but there are audible dropouts throughout the album. Sounds like they used a worn original tape. I’m all for new pressings from master tapes, but pick a good one ….

Overall, a poorly done, cheap money grab from the KISS marketing machine …

Also - either there’s a shit load more than 2,500 printed or nobody’s buying ‘em - as at 12th Jan 25 you can still buy these from Kissonline …. 🤔

Not a spectacular release. The last few re-issues had a great shiny cover but this one doesn't. Hype sticker says 'silver metallic ink' but I can't really spot that. The embossed elements are a great touch, the gold vinyl looks really gold but overall not too much difference from the 2019 transparent oranje version. And this was only available in a fan unfriendly package with an unwanted longsleeve shirt.

The LP is flat and quiet. Compared to my original LP, the mastering is a big improvement. The original HTH was the worst sounding of the original three releases and always had sort of a muddy mid range with rolled off highs. This pressing has a much cleaner high end (and mids), and finally has some bass on it. Those adjustments were sorely needed and it's got more presence across the soundstage as a result. More lively sounding than the original LP, and I didn't note any distortion at all (other than what was intended). Glad I grabbed it!

Just got this one, nice textured cover with a small CRC sticker one the back. I find it hard to believe this was pressed in 1976 with blue/silver Bogart labels.

I'm surprised discogs are selling these counterfeits! Or is it just bootleg vinyl they don't do?

Whoever changed Az to A2 in the matrix... Az (for Alan Zentz) was correct...

Best mastering of this album by a mile
There is so much more clarity ,the low /mid range has been reduced in the process but thats a good thing ,because the listener can boost the low end as much as they wish per their liking and still maintain this unearthed clarity ..
The charm of the "low-fi" still remains
Whoever mastered this did an incredible job without taking from the classic doom aura we all love
The drums are the real highlight ,never sounded so clear and defined .
Ive owned many copies since this came out and this is by far the best kiss remastering of- Hotter than Hell- by a mile
I have no problem claiming this The definitive edition
