So bad it was deleted from the Creation label catalogue a week after release
On purchasing this at the time - it was a huge disappointment. Black nite crash was good. The rest was guff. All felt a bit flat/ bland… Maybe time I gave it a second chance referencing Tarantula (LP, Album, Limited Edition) CRELP 180
I have always loved this thing! Lots of bitchin’ back in the day the it wasn’t psychedelic/experimental enough or it wasn’t pop enough…screw that noise, it may not have been their intention (as the band was ending) but they made a moody rock album much like a Neil Young record like On The Beach given the Ride treatment. It’s as different from Carnival Of Light as it was from Going Blank again and they’re all great! I’ve had my copy since it came out and it sounds lovely. Punchy drums, great guitar tones, good bottom end too. I haven’t played this a ton since I got it but pretty often and it still sounds excellent.- I can understand why orange was the color chosen for this reissue, to match the sleeve, but it seemed to me a poor choice considering the recent Going Blank Again reissue was also translucent orange. Which is to say I am not too disappointed that the reissue is on plain black vinyl because of the pressing error.
- A bit of a shame for the orange vinyl fiasco, but this pressing sounds very good. And the album is better than I remembered!
- The explanation I was emailed was ,,,,,
"It has come to our attention today that the Ride reissue Tarantula (WEBB577LP) has been mis pressed on black vinyl instead of transparent orange. Just to confirm, the black vinyl will be the only version available now. There are no plans to repress for the foreseeable future." referencing Tarantula (CD, Album) CRECD 180
Sounds like the LP repress has been cocked up somewhere along the line. I've just had a notification from Rough Trade that the orange vinyl has been mispressed on standard black vinyl.referencing Tarantula (CD, Album) CRECD 180
