Various – Lost Highway

To my ears, this sounds wider and fuller than the previous vinyl release and certainly the original CD, thus I do believe the entire album has been remastered. The standouts are the Badalamenti tracks which seem to benefit the most from this remaster. When Red Bats With Teeth really starts cooking, the expanded dynamic range becomes apparent. Mr. Eddy's Theme is also a revelation compared to prior releases. My pressing is nearly dead silent as well, which is always a welcome surprise with most new vinyl these days. I would have assumed that the source material was digitally recorded, but this remaster sounds so warm that I now suspect at least some track were recorded on tape. My guess is that the original digital master from the CD was used for the previous vinyl releases.

i okazjonalny szum powierzchniowy (nic wielkiego i tylko w jednym miejscu), płyty są płaskie, bez wypaczeń. Okładka też jest świetna, gruba, matowa z doskonałą, ziarnistą grafiką. Wszystko w tym wydaniu jest doskonałe, perfekcyjnie opracowane i warte każdego grosza. Znam tą ścieżkę odkąd się ukazała ale po wysłuchaniu tego wydania miałem wrażenie jakbym słuchał jej po raz pierwszy. Niesamowite! Polecam!

Pretty good press of a very unique soundtrack.. some of the best of the era are present here providing expert sonic accoutrement: Bowie, Reznor, Badalamenti, Corgan, etc. All perfectly dailing in to the wild ride that is David Lynch’s imagination. Sexy, edgy, noir.. great soundtrack and this version comes on some nice heavyweight vinyl. Could’ve used a gatefold, but it is what it is. Definitely worth picking up for 20-30 bucks.

Very good copy. Sounds amazing. Have it in my collection. Those unnofficial Bulgarian cd's from the 90's are hard to find nowadays.

Anybody do any kind of comparison to other presses? I already have it and I see reviews are great, but is it better?

MOV knocks it out of the park, as per usual. I can't imagine Lost Highway sounding any better than it does here. My old 90s CD sounds rather "sterile/clinical" compared to this pressing, so this feels like an immediate upgrade. Perfectly clean copy, too. Zero distortion, nor any kind of noise.

More broadly speaking, I'd love if MOV started selling digital versions of their flat masters, or even include them as a download code.

Sounds like this is highly regarded sound-wise but a shame the cover is the much uglier version with the characters weirdly composited on there instead of the minimalistic one used by earlier releases. I'd be tempted to get an unofficial release just because of that...

Was late to the party with this one but so glad that I finally picked it up. Sounds incredible and with 23 tracks over two LPs it's an absolute bargain for the price!

Does anyone know what the remastering entails or how extensive it is compared to the other 180g vinyl version out there? Is it just the Badalamenti tracks, or were all songs on the album (Rammstein, Manson, Trent's, etc.) remastered?
