Reviews
There exists a 12” 33 rpm EP version of this, Canadian pressing Polydor Ltd. catalog number PEP 310. Also includes “When You’re Young,” “Funeral Pyre,” and “Liza Radley.” I don’t see it listed anywhere. Should I enter it as a new item?- My issue has a floppy disc but cannot find it on Discogs?
An odd 1981 non LP single, at the time it felt like a step backwards but, seen in context, 'Absolute Beginners' was a throw forward to The Style Council and 'The Gift'. An essential Jam single: 'Tales from the Riverbank' is a sinister downbeat listen akin to The Cure or Siouxsie; 'Absolute Beginners' utilises soul horns and sounds fabulous. Terrific from Weller.- Initial copies were issued with a glossy picture / lyric insert, often having silver paint from the label on.
