Has anyone ordered this album recently from the Beastie Boys website? I ordered one that came slightly warped, but plays well. I contacted them and had missed the 60 day return period by a few days and they at first were not going to do anything However, I kept after them and they relented and sent another copy, which also came slightly warped. Not as bad as the first one, but still warped. Wondering if any else has gotten a warped copy of this record? Could it come from the pressing? I really love this album, so I a a liitle disappointed.referencing The Mix-Up (LP, Album, Stereo) 50999 5 00112 1 6
Still can't believe this is a Beastie Boys record, these guys were so talented and created some amazing music. Weird, jazzy, funky, groovy instrumental brilliance. Quality pressing, everything sounds great.- Edited 3 years ago

Another pressing by Rainbo Records that can be sent straight to the trash bin. Terrible. 2 seconds in and already the clicks and pops are overwhelming... and it's not a matter of cleaning the record... it's non-fill, which Rainbo Records was notorious for; no amount of cleaning is fixing that. Again, straight to the trash bin, or maybe melt it down and make a paper weight out of it. Astonishing they were allowed to butcher as many releases as they did. Thankfully, they're not around anymore.
Also, the rating is for the music, not the pressing. -1 million rating for the pressing. referencing The Mix-Up (LP, Album, Stereo) 50999 5 00112 1 6

A damn fine album of all-instrumentals. Very little sampling here- just the boys and some friends rocking it old school. I don't think if this was the Beastie's main jam would they have had as much success - that is to say - they don't reinvent funk/soul instrumentals. But it's another side of them that I've always loved and it was great to get this album. Too bad it was their untimely last chance they'd get at showing this other side. referencing The Mix-Up (LP, Album) 0946 3 94085 1 1
Odd that it is a gatefold with an empty pocket, that said, sounds great and definitely worth a buy!referencing The Mix-Up (LP, Album) 0946 3 94085 1 1
I bought a sealed copy & the gatefold packaging doesn't come with anything (poster/art etc.) in the other sleeve. First time I've come across a gatefold that has both sides open but nothing in one side.- Are these Russian pressings actually counterfeits? If that’s the case, they shouldn’t be listed as a Capitol Records release if at all.

Amazing album! The Beastie Boys did not end up on Check Your Head and Ill Communication ...referencing The Mix-Up (CD, Album, Digipak) 0946 3 94085 2 8
Absolutely awesome album! These old farts managed to make an instrumental funk/soul album with a raw sound similar to that of the late 60's/early 70's but without sounding like a Meters or Booker T ripoff act. This is exactly what Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse wish they could have made. But where both them and all related mid 00's soul-revival acts failed miserably the Beastie Boys, as from left field, succeed triumphantly! And anybody not feeling this simply doesn't like music .
Instead of trying to copy the old sound by means of various forms of sampling and other studio tricks (i.e. typical instrumentation or mixing) the Beastie Boys keep it relevant by simply having fun playing whatever instruments, just like the bands they were inspired by did all those years ago. And while this too has been attempted many times before most musicians simply can't pull it off, and that these ex punk-rockers/rappers should shine through the contemporary layers of filth that come with new technology and the daft slacker producers such evolution creates is what makes this so fantastic!
Instant classic, and I wish they make many more albums like this one!
10/10 for boldness and bravery!
