Eban (the former lead singer of The Stylistics)' last name is Brown not Thomas! This CD is worth it just for "You Can't Stop Us Now", an update of The Temptations' "Message To A Black Man."referencing Nas (Cassette, Album) B001150504
This album is the greatest Nas record yet. The album tells a steady tale about the race war that America loves to propagate. There is a high energy about this album regarding the original title being an epithet and the question if because of that, this album would ever be released.
But there is an energy regarding “Nas” that just could not allow this album to sit on the shelf. “Make The world go round” is one of Nas’ best posse cut bangers, featuring another great Game/Nas collaborative, a Chris Brown who sounds like he could be a “young Mike Jackson” and an instrumental that will instantly put a smile on your face as the album’s lead singer “Hero” does with Keri Hilson’s assistance while she was running the game with assistant vocals.
As for the album cuts, “Nas” just tells it like it is - giving up all the goods on the album’s best cuts. The plucky metal “Sly Fox” where Nas spits about the brainwashing media; the Busta Rhymes-assitrd, darkly comical dietary critique “Fried Chicken” , and the legendary Last Poets trade words of realness on the insert “Project Roach” , speaking of a fear of being equated tonthe lowliest of the Earth. “Untitled” is a biography of every revolutionary. And that’s the beautifully part about that record and “Black President”, Nas does not praise any world leaders on this record, but inspects them , leading us all to question their authencity with so much time sdprnt under the camera.
“ We’re Not Alone” is a stadium ready anthem shedding light on global ignorance and questioning the universe. “Testify” sees Nas questioning his so called fans relatibility to is message and life over a blues background. “Nas” is a mature listen, where unlike a majority of Nas’ discography not a song should be shed from the tracklist that has an ineffable replay value. “Nas” shouldn’t have left his Magnum opus untitled through the bullshit off getting it released, just by playing the politics game he could have ended up dubbing “Nas” “Hero” , because at the end of hearing this recording that is what Nasty is through and through for delivering this, his self-titled masterstroke.referencing Untitled (2×LP, Album) B0011505-01
Annoying sibilance on this pressing. Espacially on the first song.
