Salsa House. The original and best. 1988 style.
Sunrise Radio, LWR and KIss FM (before it was granted a license) were amongst the first London Pirate Radio stations to play this original mix of Salsa House way back in the heddy days of 1988 even before the 24 hour, seven days a week non stop London pirate house music station Centreforce 88.3FM.
To be fair, there came a point when it was extremely overplayed. Especially when it was re-released together with the remixes in 1989. Every other caller to a pirate radio station was requesting it. Not that I'm blaming them mind you. Just stating facts. The positives are that in later years it wasn't constantly played, so it escaped people's immediate consciousness for several years as other bigger and much way cheesier anthems took centre stage.
Regardless. It is one of the most nostalgic pieces to ever be pressed on wax. Even when it was brand new and fresh it still created that sense or feel of nostalgia and reminiscing. Richie Rich managed to blend a slight melancholy, dare I say (an uneasy neurosis even) with a rather subtle euphoria which triggered those serotonin receptors. Very distinctive and unique sound and an absolute eternal classic. True British House music and one of the main defining tracks of the Summers Of Love 1988-1989.
'Turn It Up' on the other hand is a load of tacky, cheesy crap. Sorry folks. referencing Turn It Up (12", 33 ⅓ RPM, 76) 872 187-1
Salsa House is the gem here! A brilliant piece of house music by RR with a touch of genuis on the keyboards ! Oh yeah, and a huge dancefloor crasher back in the day. Also check out the amazing MASH-UP remix with Xaviera Gold's You Used To Hold Me Richie Rich / Ralphi Rosario - The Remix Of Richie Rich's Salsa House which first appeared in the greedy little hands of djs in Toronto via bootleggers.referencing Turn It Up (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) 872 187-1
This is a great release despite Turn It Up being very very weak. The Club JABX 68 release without Salsa House on the B Side is a true £1 tune however Mercury were on the ball when they included an experimental track like Salsa on the B Side. This IS the ORIGINAL presing of Salsa and used to sell 15years ago for £25+ due to being rare.
Please forget other pressings of Salsa and go for this pressing...the original and the best.- Edited 18 years ago

Well i can not believe no one has left a comment about "Salsa House" which first came out on this piece of vinyl, when i played it everyone was up there somewhere....a true classic tune wich built up into, at the time, euphoric sounds and many an attempt and bootleg came afterwards...no wonder FFRR picked it up on to thier label....TUNE !
