really bad pressing, has bubbles inside and on the record which make really loud pops, so sad bcuz its such a good album

Nearly 60 years gone after the original recording, and the album doesn’t cease to amaze. A must add and keep in a wide and deep jazz collection for music fans with open minds and ears beyond American Jazz. Not a fan of such fancy color variant pressing but it sounds surprisingly good and is free of pressing faults. Maybe Komeda would have liked it that way, too?

Track #2, Kattorna, is Swedish for The (female) Cats, and drummer Rune Carlsson was Swedish. Danish movie director Henning Carlsen directed a movie called just that - Kattorna - in 1965. He'd asked Krzysztof Komeda - who used to play at the famous and cozy, now defunct, Jazzhus Montmartre jazz club in downtown Copenhagen - to write the score for the movie. It's a Swedish movie though, and not a good one either.

The following year, he directed another, Swedish/Danish/Norwegian b/w movie, the classic Sult/Svält (Hunger) that won the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 1966, and the lead in this grim movie (based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Norwegian Knut Hamsun), the amazing, Swedish actor Per Oscarsson won prize for Best Actor. Komeda wrote the music.

Caution: All my copies I tried to get in the past were all exceedingly dish-warped that could not be fixed by professional repair machines due to semi-heavy weight vinyl.

First copy was wrapped, noisy and terribly damaged with non fill. It was unlistenable. The replacement copy is without any of the above issues. I am pretty sure that there is a damaged batch out there. Sound is okay.

This is an amazing album. From the beautifully authentic timeless cover on the outside to the amazingly creative jazz inside. Listening to this whilst walking, creates some psychedelic synapses to come to life.
Escapism made rich.
The '67 Stereo pressing has that lush sound that transcends the mono. It deserves the space.

Świetny remaster, ciężki winyl w ładnej kolorystyce, wysokiej jakości. Na kopercie i okładce sporo ciekawych informacji o wykonawcy, albumie i polskim jazzie jako takim. Cieszy ucho.

Never heard any other version, but this sounds fantastic. Flat, clean, zero surface noise (new copy). Dynamics are good; mastered for midrange. Smart and sexy post-bop.
