I ordered a copy off Dischord records expecting black vinyl but got this one instead. Absolutely no complaints though, the orange looks wonderful and this pressing hits with all the punch you could want for this album. 5 stars easy.

WHAT was done (mastering-wise) to the short drum break during the second half of "His Only Trade?" It's not horrible, but it's definitely different than what I'm used to hearing. It catches me off guard every time. I think this record sounds pretty good overall.

This pressing sounded a little better than the black remaster. I don’t know how, but my copy possesses both better clarity and bass response. Drums are cutting through the over-tracked guitars like a laser beam. There was one really odd warble during Livid. Kind of sounded like an issue with a machine during recording? Still, sounds killer on my system and the orange compliments the artwork very well.

I don’t have an original to compare it to, but this actually sounds pretty good considering my expectations. It does sound better than what I have ripped off of an old CD. I would in no way call this a perfect record, but considering the source material this may be the best it will ever dress. I will have the chance to spin the Newbury orange pressing soon. So I will update with a comparison!

Update: Newbury orange nosed ahead in audio quality! Left another review on that entry.

Great sounding release. No Cornflake Girl as hidden track however.

I originally brought this album on ebay expecting a original press. At first i was disappointed ( with it being a remaster) but on listening to this great album. i am quite surprised by how good it sounds..recommended.

Reissue is a bit louder than the original pressing. No surprise there. I was never particularly impressed with the production on this LP to begin with so the loudness doesn't make much of a difference to me. They got a little carried away in the studio as far as I'm concerned. The instruments have always sounded compressed to the point of being muddy, especially the guitars which J. Robbins insisted on multi-tracking the hell out of. You can't polish a turd, but as far as turds are concerned, this is still a terrific album that blows many bands' best albums out of the water with its remarkable songwriting and craft alone . Just wish J. Robbins and co toned down the bells and whistles a bit on this one.
