Got lucky it seems. No issues with mine. Sound great.
I recently purchased a copy of this set from Rough Trade US, and unlike the copy that I purchased upon its release in 2021, this one is without issues!- Guess I lucked out, mine's dead quiet. Take a chance, this is great music that's beautifully packaged!
Edited 2 years agoWorth exchanging if yours didn't pass the quality control test. Mine sounds pristine, bought from Rough trade in the US. Nice (if inessential) colors too!- Disc 2 and 3 are very noisy. Cleaning them with Clearaudio Smart Matrix was not a huge improvement. I am waiting for a replacement copy...
These were really noisy when I bought them. Then I had them professionally cleaned with one of those touchless ultrasonic cleaners that has done magical things to my other records and now they are just pretty noisy. Disappointing.- I was one of the unlucky ones to get a noisy copy (even after cleaning). Unlistenable.
I have no noise issues of any kind on my records here, they sound fantastic to my ears, especially the quiet guitar moments in the build-up to the eruptions. I love playing EP3 at 33rpm instead of the intended 45rpm, I know it can sound trite to say some songs sound better at the slower speed, but it really suits these songs to be pitched down. The coloured vinyl all looks great, like panes of glass in a Gerald Murnane novella. Beautiful release.- Mine sounds great, looks great and no issues with fidelity or clarity
My copy is perfectly pressed and sounds great. If you have a bad copy, return it.
