Reviews
- Edited 3 days agoReceived my copy today. I do not have any of the sound issues that many other reviewers seem to have. Mine sounds fantastic. It needed a good cleaning before playing, but every new album does. Tunes are great.

I have 3 copies of this version. The first one I bought back in the late 90's when I went to Japan to buy Led Zeppelin Bootlegs. I was getting ready to leave for the airport and I was kicking myself for not buying some Pink Floyd records I saw at a shop not too far away. Well, I quickly went there and bought Meddle, Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother.
They all sound so great. Usually Japanese records can be a bit thin in the bass but I find they do make great classic period Jazz reissues and seemingly Pink Floyd pressing too.- “Meddle” by Pink Floyd, in the 1974 UK pressing, is unquestionably a masterpiece that perfectly captures the sonic brilliance and musical genius of this band. This pressing stands out with impressive dynamics that allow the listener to delve deep into the intricate sonic landscapes that the album offers.
Particularly striking is the bass on this pressing. It is deep, precise, and lends the songs an earthy depth that enriches the musical experience. The instrumental passages, such as in “One of These Days,” benefit from this rich bass that imparts a physical pulse.
The sound quality of the 1974 UK pressing of “Meddle” also highlights the subtle nuances in the songs, whether it’s the gentle ripple of water in “Echoes” or the fine details in the guitar riffs. This album was clearly mixed and produced with a keen attention to detail.
Overall, “Meddle” by Pink Floyd in the 1974 UK pressing is an audiophile’s delight. It captures the essence of the band and provides an auditory journey that is a true pleasure for both die-hard fans and music enthusiasts in general. It is a timeless masterpiece that fully realizes its potential in this pressing. - Edited one month agoPressed by Capitol Records in Los Angeles, this first run US pressing is extremely good, present, balanced with great separation and dynamics. Don't worry if you can't find a pristine UK 1U/1U copy - a clean one of these is right there with it. Differences are minimal - the UK 1U I have seems more "dense" and the US LA feels very slightly more "airy" - which was likely more of a mastering choice at the time than one feeling better than the other.
- My 1U (RR) has plenty of scratch pops and surface noise, but this pressing is incredible, immediate, present and rich. Very solid bass with cymbal shimmer, as a fresh master tape might sound in 1971. Interesting to open up the gatefold and see the ear as Hipgnosis intended. The North American release had the ear hole airbrushed out.
- Very nice pressing! The bass on this record is incredible, but you must turn the volume all the volume up to appreciate it

Amazing, I was disappointed with the vinyl so I sought out the best CD pressing. Holy cow, this is dynamic! More dynamic than the vinyl in fact, Pink Floyd know how to mix CDs and Alan Parsons is a big proponent for dynamic music. This sounds incredible to me, superior to the vinyl in every way.
