recorded 27 April and 2 May 1969 (live album) and released on November 7, 1969.
Pink Floyd's first release on Harvest Records. Originally released on October 25, 1969. The studio part of the album is known for being highly experimental and divisive amongst Pink Floyd fans.

Winchester Ummagumma
Scranton Ummagumma
Jacksonville Ummagumma
The first disc (SHDW 1) is a live album.
Sources of the original studio recordings:
- A1 – "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn"
- A2 – "Point Me At The Sky" Single
- Side B – "A Saucerful Of Secrets"
(Total duration: 39:15)
The second disc (SHDW 2) is a studio album.
At 16 words, track C3 has the distinction of having the longest name ever carried by a Pink Floyd song.
(Total duration: 48:44)
Cover design trivia;
- Album cover shows a droste effect. On early versions the effect ends with an artwork of Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets on the wall.
- The album, whose package is shown on cover (over the band's name) is MGM's "Gigi" - Original Cast Sound Track Album (which was released 11 years earlier) was removed on US vinyl pressings.

- Despite all four members of the band giving only self-deprecating comments when forced to talk about their fourth studio album,it is a major achievement.
That said, the major accomplishment is the fortunately added live disc with recordings from the 1969 informal The man and the journey tour. They show the psychedelic Pink Floyd at the top of their game.Brilliant.
Since neither the studio nor the live album even remotely cater to audiophile standards,it's no use looking for a Holy Grail - there just isn't any.
This European pressing is as good as it gets in my humble opinion, dynamics and overall sonic performance are second to none. And it is definitely on par with the '83 Capitol US rainbow label reissue, in case you you've been wondering. - This is a pretty hot pressing. I played this (without touching the volume knob) directly after spinning a good rock album from the 80's and noticed it is quite a bit louder.
- Edited 7 months agoAlready had a copy but just bought this one because vinyl and sleeve were pristine and it was very reasonable.
I compared with my existing copy. Was stunned that it blew it away! Much crisper, brighter, louder! It only says 'MASTERED BY CAPITOL' in the run out. No, bs, like listening to two different records. My old one sounded sad, muddy and weak.
My old one will be going bye-bye. referencing Ummagumma (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Gatefold, 180 Gram) SIJP 14~5
Very quiet vinyl, great detail, excellent sound stage, stunning drums (I need to roll a joint!). Side C Track 3 is a test for the many overlapping sound effects: passed with full marks. I think you can't do better considering it's a 1969 recording. I would love to collect the other releases in this series, but it's not easy to find them cheaply. Furthermore, these are in all respects the 2016 US copies repacked with japanese obi.
