Still love it - realized it as "groundbreaking" when it came out ..but well i was 12 back then :-)

Another boring and overrated track which i never understood why it was so appreciated by everyone . Sure Pullover was in kinda every clubs in 1990-1995 and was on kinda every CD compilation but for me "Pullover" is a bland poor techno tune without action it even deserve the skip button on my cd-player .

Speedy J : Pullover as Something for your Mind and T-99 : Anasthasia are all overrated tunes the mainstream loved back then and maybe still does today .

        2 out of 10

Nice release, with probably the best known remix-version of the mega-hit Pullover. Nothing to say about that track, because everybody who likes electronic (house)-music knows this one.
The next two tracks are great techno-tunes, in a recognizable Speedy J style, of which 'Tresor' is a bit harder then 'Rise'. The live recorded version of 'Something for your mind' is great for an oldschool DJ-set, because of the energy that the track has. Finally, De-Orbit sounds a bit like the dream-house that was popular in the early nineties, and makes you feel really relaxed in space. All together a very nice release, with some different sides of Speedy J combined.

one of Jochem Paaps non-experimental party releases. and what can i say? its awesome. an awesome melody for the whole song and an always changing percussion. every 2 repetitions of the melody, there is something new in the drums. seriously, listen closely to the drums. thats why it is always changing, without changing (hard to explain) (sry for bad english, but i hope you get what i mean :D)

greets from 15yo who hates todays pop :P

While it doesn't really qualify as an essential purchase, "Pull over remixes" has all the takes on Speedy J's old school massive club hit, and then some.
Basically, apart from his own three versions (the original plus the first and second remixes), the other remixes don't even come close to matching the simple effectiveness and magic Jochem successfully captured with the original. Worst of all are the Delerium hardcore remixes; there are two versions, one with one of those horrendously childish drum kicks with the original's hook over it, while the other version is the identical track with a sample going "Way back! Back into time!" and "What we gonna do right here is go back". Cheese at its finest.
The two Ozk versus DJ Kross mixes are not that bad, with some entertaining acid synths and tiny playful melodies steady bouncing around the background.
Anyways, if you're really keen on getting a release which adequately covers all the Pull Over territory you will honestly ever need, just go for the old Music Man CD Maxi, which has the original and the other two of Jochem's mixes. It's much cheaper than this, but more importantly, it contains the main versions all in one package for a bargain price.

Speedy J's Pullover was one of my first, if not the first, contacts with electronic music.
To this day it remains his biggest commercial success and club hit, though he's made quite a few of those down the line.
Interesting thing is that Pullover is perhaps the simplest piece of music Jochem Paap has ever churned out. Not that I intend it to sound like a bad thing, but it's the same instantly recognizible siren-like hook layed over a moderate kick for six minutes. It has that irresistible hands in the air while dispersing good vibes all over touch written across it.
Out of the two remixes, I prefer the second one, which has the identical hook, but leans over to the harder realms, due to an overall much more macabre atmosphere and harder kick drum.
Simple, yet extremely effective, unforgettable and very fun to dance to, Pullover remains the ultimate old school calling card for the rave crowd, despite sounding dated when measured against Speedy J's later work.
Testimonies of the era state that it drove people up and down the wall on an every weekend basis!
