- Edited 14 years agoThe year was 91 and after the Bring Forth The Guillotine, 20 Seconds To Comply and Undercover Anarchist singles had come out many were awaiting an album. Undercover Anarchist had give us an idea of what to expect rough, raw, blisteringly paced UNDERGROUND rap. Many weren't sure if bullet and his new label were going to sell it out after the success of 20 seconds, tam tam had tried but bullet having none of it signing to Parlaphone which was an odd label for uk rap but they gave bullet free reign. I remember ordering this in pestering the staff as to when it was coming, and when finally it arrived i raced home put on my headphones (so i couldn't miss a thing) and very carefully put it on the turntable. 20 seconds was a slightly rougher mix losing a bit of the high end percussion. Raw deal aimed at tam tam spits venom, Guns Of Mind Alone is a roller, Legions Of The Damned slows it down a little, He Spins Around is mo's dj cut. All the production is slightly murky in a good way and busy similiar to white child rix of gunshots productions although least gangster more witchcrafty if that makes sense. It was music that made you want to overthrow the government that was for sure ,quite introspective and very aggressive, perfect for my age at the time but still today a dope, dope album and should go down as a defining album in the evolution of UK hip hop as the US had never produced an album like this. B for UK not USA even though that line funnily seemed to get edited out on this. Silver Bullet wicked in every sense.
