Although EVERYTHING IS UNDER CONTROL isn't my favorite Coldcut track off of SOUND MIRRORS, as it tries too hard with its rock-hybrid, here, in remixed form, it produces some interesting results. Trevor Jackson revives his Underdog moniker for a icy, bass-heavy take, while Solid Groove puts a house groove to the track. DJ Kentaro adds a slight Japanese flavor to his intro before tackling the main body with some scratching and breaks, whereas the "Theory 0.1" mix emphasizes more of the blues element, as opposed to the rock element. Not bad, but not their best, either.

This vinyl deserves being accreditted for its eclectic sounds. While you have a simple yet euphoric breaks mix on one side while having an accapella to mix over any repetitive beat, the other side produces a hard smashing drum and bass version. This has been a favourite for such DJ's as Pendulum during the summer of 2006.
Mindblowing tune that proves there is no limit to what Coldcut can achieve!!

Where are the Coldcuts of yesteryear? Not only is this not innovative or interesting in any way, it also sounds utterly dated and smacks of a poorly-timed rap/rock attempt at relevance in a musical world that has grabbed hold of the Coldcut sampling aesthetic and moved far, far ahead. Embarrassingly bad, "heavy" guitars and shoddy beats, combined with some truly lame generic "political" lyrics. Look, I hate the King Bush II regime as much as anyone else, but this is really just sad.
