- I have this one with identical matrix but a plain white label with 3rd R&R written on it. Should I list it as a seperate release or add a picture to this one
- I feel like I'm going crazy. I'm certain I remember seeing a copy of this album where one side was called 96 tears instead of the usual name. I can't remember which side but I can't find it here. Does anybody else have any info about this?
- My copy does not have any labels, it does have the insert 'Red disc within' on Ralph records headed paper.
- I just bought a copy and the 40 year anniversary stamp on the back has been updated to new 50 year “Holding Up The Underground” stamp
- A group of humanoid aliens are given a selection of Western rock and roll music from the sixties in order to learn what some of our species has been up to. They listen.
As "Hey Jude" is wrapping up, the aliens look at each other. "We could do this," they say. "Yeah." "Oh for sure, we can."
They book some time in their space ship's recording studio. They cover the highlights from the music they heard.
However, their Earth intel is out of date. They craft their rocking and rolling for a National Socialist audience.
It rocks back and forth. It rolls up and down. It hanks, and then later, it panks.
Will you dance? - this specific version has been repressed a few times. the last 2 times were in 2019 and 2021, if i remember correctly.
- Will the regular reissue without the 7” and with the grey label be created? (Cannot do it myself, unfortunately)?
- Talking about inferior design: the cover art was inspired by Poor Know Graphics for sure, but was it really approved? Who thought, Madonna needs to be next to Hitler, under a tree, with a snake, just like Adam and Eve, but they both are dressed, so what are the fig leaves all about? And then, by taking out all the swastikas from the original design makes the whole thing become unsuspicious? I mean, really, come on..! We still have Hitler and the reichsadler, what more do you need in Germany to becoming banned? In comparison to the graphic standards at the time the drawing design is awful, i.m.o. the wurst (yes, wurst) of all covers on behalf of the cryptic corporation.
- Edited one year agoAs my experience with the remastered double vinyl I ordered from cherry red records incl. bonus 7" was of a rather mediocre kind, I am really overwhelmed by the quality of this test pressing - okay, no liner notes and artwork, but you've read and seen all that stuff before anyway. So whoever will get the chance to grab a copy: take this chance!
- Edited 2 years agoIf 'Can't play, WILL play these instruments in the studio' defined the 1st brilliant album by the Rez, then 'Have learned to play WILL use the studio as an instrument' is this offering. A vicious kick in the balls to all bubblegum hits of the 60's and other hits that got the hackles of the Fab four from Louisiana rising....spot them all if you can (i cannot)....but in there are Hey Jude, 96 tears, The ballad of the green berets (ugh) and other crimes against music sung in NAZI youth vocals accompanied by Stuka divebombers and machine gun fire. So spiteful and yet so liberating and RIGHT. This artifact is the IMT Nuremberg trial, where the defendants are torn to shreds courtesy of The Residents as chief prosecutors. After this it was, sadly if inevitably all downhill. The debut and this LP are vital, no other Residents material, though brilliant, is. Up there with the Jamaican dub pioneers in shacks in Kingston, This Heat in Cold Storage, John Cage and David Tudor using what was available and on the hoof....that is, to make inventive music that says imagination will triumph over resources. A winner. Play it at your sister, as The Damned demanded. She may love you for it.
