Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley – The Super Super Blues Band

I’ve been wanting this record for a while but could never find it for a decent price.
I picked my copy up while visiting Germany in May for a better deal than I ever found in the states.
Killer trio!

I agree with the Skunk. This is a fine pressing and packaging. Nice job, Jackpot. The music is pretty much a cartoon, however. This screams 'contractural obligation' record. The guys diss each other and generally piss about. There is some brilliant playing, however: Hubert Sumlin, piano, Buddy Guy, bass, Muddy's slide. I was lucky enough to see all of the above gents live various times. Pretty much a one and done for playing, tho again, a first rate press. Also, worth it for the hilarious Richard Meltzer liner notes! "They are even the Nietzschean multiple divinity at the very least." Indeed!

Phenomenal pressing! This release sounds awesome with great dynamics. Nice booming bass driving the rhythm and the guitars scream. The blue vinyl is great and a poly sleeve is included, too. Overall this is a must own for blues fans! (Yes, the screaming girls added to some of the tracks are annoying, but just focus on the Three Horsemen of the Bluespocalypse.

Listen: The Super Super Blues Band isn't as super super as the title would have you believe, but the three masters are clearly having a real good time, and the album drives from beginning to end. It very much sounds like an album where you get these three guys, put them in a studio, and hit 'record'. But they're all such strong talents that the entire album holds together and rarely feels like they're just winging it without any care. Albums like this rarely happened in the blues idiom, so we're lucky to have it at all.

Bought the 2016 Orange vinyl brand new for $30 Canadian. Don’t pay these ridiculous prices for a blue album... these flippers are the same douchebags sitting on a garage full of toilet paper they can’t move.

This is probably the UK pressing from 1968 on black/silver Chess labels w "P 1968", "Made In England".
Released in a frontlaminated single sleeve w three flipbacks w "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending", and "Distributed By Pye Records (Sales) Ltd., A.T.V. House Great Cumberland Place London W.1." at rear sleeve.
