The Young Rascals – The Young Rascals

Kick-ass debut album from one of the greatest American bands of the 60's. Even at this early stage, they were a powerhouse group. This 1968 stereo edition sounds perfectly fine, with solid range from top to bottom, but the mix sounds a bit awkward/primitive in a few spots. My copy plays nice and clean, with occasional faint surface noise.

A genuinely great (mostly covers) album of raw garage mid-60s pop-rock w/ a blue-eyed soul feel. One of the most impressive 60s bands. No weak moments here.

This pressing sounds great, and the album is a lot of fun. But who TF dressed these guys?

I have both this mono version and a stereo version. This mono version blows the stereo version away. The annecdotal reasoning for the comparitively superior mastering of this mono vesion would be that stereo mastering for rock 'n' roll genre LPs, in particular, of the mid to late 1960s would have been that the intended and expected demographic market for such titles would be young people who presumably did not have the more expensive hi-fi setups capable of playing stereo, (most presumably had comparitively inexpensive, self-contained turntable single-speaker units). The stereo mix was presumably, in most cases, such as this title, an afterthought to market to the comparitively smaller demographic who had hi-fi stereo set ups back then. These folks would have been enticed by the prominent stereo tag printed on the front of the sleeve, perhaps thinking that the stereo version would sound better.

This is a classic that has aged well. The covers are great

The debut album by the Young Rascals is pretty good although they only wrote one song. Interesting choice of covers including the Beau Brummels Just A Little. The mono version is the way to go if you can find one.

I have this version but it has a sticker with "Includes Good Lovin'" on the front rather than having it printed.
