- One of my favorite releases of Coil, i bought the CD-R on the live they made here in Greece/Thessaloniki.Every time i put this on, i get this feeling of a farewell of them. 🙏
- Got #195. Pink and grey vinyls. Pretty good pressing for a bootleg. Just don't like that much the paper sleeves.
If I had to choose 5 releases from Coil, then The Remote Viewer would be one of them. One of my all time favourite electronic albums. - Edited one year agoMy copy says 028/500 and has pink and blue vinyl. Is it a different pressing or did this come on different colors?
- Excellent bootleg. Purchasing this will not deter my buying an "official" release if one gets released.
- Edited 3 years ago500 copies lim. edition, numbered on sticker. in black vinyl.
u can offical buy at DRONE REC IN BREMEN - Edited 3 years agoSpend your money on the official 2CD release rather than a bootleg that using the CD release as it's source.
- The packaging of this bootleg is pretty good, the quality of the pressing is pretty impressive too, no hisses or pops as my pressing is dead silent. They handled this with care for sure.
- It is in a painted clamshell box (a red and a blue)i bought them on e bay.It really sounds like a real complement of the other ones.If its a fake it is perfectly done and the result is quite good and sounds like a unity.
I bought 3 of it and sent back one cos the painting of the box was falling in many pieces on the cds.The 2 other ones i receive were in better condition (the painting)but not flawless. - I have one of the copies of the CD that was signed by the whole group, i was working at the Barbican Hotel on the night they played the Barbican Centre in London and when they got back to the hotel i had a long chat with them all and there was 1 copy left that had not been given out. Needless to say they gave it to me along with a bunch of other CD's they had with them. I have no idea what this might be worth though (for insurance value if needed), Any ideas would be very helpful ;)
- With this EP Coil deliver another beautiful and stunning piece of work. Published as a limited CD-R to be sold at their recent European appearances and recorded with the current tour line-up.
It consists basically of a nearly 20 minute instrumental piece in two versions - probably a prepared improvisation with Michael York on breton pipes, Cliff Stapleton on hurdy gurdy and a subtile percussive groove underlayed by various electronic devices of Mr's. Balance, Christopherson and Norris. A slightly nostalgic feeling evolves while listening but it is a paradox one; like longing for a past you never had or the desire of living in an ancient time you know nothing about for sure.
The return of Danny Hyde to mixing desk collaboration marks the version that concludes this release,"Remote Viewing 3" and more so the interlude "Remote Viewing 2" which seems to be constructed mainly out of parts of the original recording session with added and altered sounds and vocal snippets. It works perfectly as a bridge between the two lengthy parts when listened in one go but does not really stand out on his own.
However, again Coil managed easily to surpass any expectations - and leave one wondering how the next 'proper' release will turn out.
This is time- and priceless musick and it would be a loss if it wouldn't be reissued in one or another form some when else.
