I purchased a copy of this reissue 2 weeks ago, only to have the same issue as @mikeh69 with fingers/residue/smears on the LP. This is the first time I've encountered a manufacturing issue like this on new vinyl. Returning it, hopefully, get a better replacement.

Yeah I bought a copy of this I been waiting 20 years to buy. Cause the original was hilariously priced used I got it for 16.99 sealed the black vinyl version.. So I waited. But I forgot this was a long record. Is it 53 minutes. I also have a Ortofon OM 10 which is a 60 dollar cart . I can upgrade to a OM 40 366.00 stylus. But is the LP worth it upgrading. I hear the distortion on my copy on both songs. And when I took the LP out of the sleeve I was kind of appalled. I saw fingers or glove smears all over the record. It looked like arghhh smears and all kinds of stuff. This was a cheapy for the desperate fans that never owned a copy. I also bought that reissue of American Thighs DMM. I forget if it was good or not. But since my cart was new it played pretty perfectly. But I tend to wonder what a OM 40 would sound like on this LP. The cart is good but just not enough detail. Or is that what the LP really sounds like. Actually I have a rip of the original and it was done differently and sounds better cause it was on a Sumiko Blue Point Special EVO III price 549.00 and that I believe is a much better cart that captured more detail you get what you pay for. Might just be the cheap cart I got. God Louise and Nina I got to buy a 366.00 OM 40 stylus to be satisfied. Maybe a remastered CD is better off. Vinyl is a pain in my butt. LOL ... And I didn't return it cause I figured I get another copy that looked the same.

This release is a repress of the 1997 Outpost/Minty Fresh vinyl. Unfortunately, the sound quality of the original release is notoriously poor. Due to this, the repressed vinyl sounds flat and unmastered. The songs that are bass heavy (Straight and Shutterbug) suffer the most. This distortion is largely due to their past label shoving way too many songs on a single vinyl. Over 22 mins per side results in narrower grooves, and consequently, crushed audio quality. The sides are over 30 minutes. Do the math.

Wait for a remaster... This release is for collectors only; audiophiles should take a hard pass.

This appears to have been a marketing gimmick to get US fans only to sign up for a text service run by Sound on Vinyl.

I love this album so much, but the cassette kind of sucks with how much blank space there is after Benjamin, before you get to the end of the side. Who thought this was okay? If you flip the tape as soon as Benjamin ends, Shutterbug gets skipped completely.
