- In a word: astonishing. (But I must add more words) The clarity of the instruments, the wonderful bass, the wide soundstage, the clearly defined lead voice at the forefront are incredible. I have multiple versions of this symphony (vinyl: original, Legacy anniversary edition; CD; high-resolution file) because I like it a lot; but nothing compares to this Mobile Fidelity edition; it's the first time I've heard this work with this level of perfection. I was going to buy the other, cheaper, single-vinyl 33rpm edition to avoid the 45rpm trade and for space reasons (the boxes are a pain), but it's not available on Mobile Fidelity, so I went for the 1Step, and as soon as I put in the first disc, nothing else mattered; everything is worth it.
- This version is definitely way better than the original, but eclipsed slightly by the MFSL One Step. If you hate to flip 45rpm records then this is the copy to own.
referencing Eldorado - A Symphony By The Electric Light Orchestra (LP, Album, Stereo, All Disc Pressing) UA-LA339-G
Overall a pretty solid pressing. Destroys the UK pressing in top end, and has a bit more of a balanced presentation.- Edited 9 months agoAll classical instruments sound really muddy during all songs. Also the cymbals sound compressed.
- After some back and forth, this is definitely the pressing to buy!
Compared to the original US pressings (both TML-M and B.A.), this one sounds more clean and open.
Feels good to finally have a stellar copy of one of my favorite albums! - Can’t believe nobody’s mentioned how good this pressing is?
Nice sharp yellow Color and fabulous pressing. Love this album, top 3 ELO albums!
