Notes
The 'godfather' of rap, Lightnin' Rod also goes by the names Alafia Pudim or Jalaluddin Mansur Nuriddin on The Last Poets albums.
Kool & The Gang is the backing group for tracks 1, 7, and 9. It should be noted that the backing band for tracks 2-5 and 8, although not identified as such, is actually a version of Full Moon (5), the Howard 'Buzzy' Feiten/Neil Larsen band that was signed to Warner Bros at the time. Also, again not credited as such, the players for tracks 6, 10, and 12 were almost all performing or recording members of The Chuck Rainey Coalition at that time.

- I used to own this reissue, and the beginning 2 measures, with the drum break, are not on it. It is noticeably edited to excise this and begins with a rapid fade-in. If you don't mind this horrible butchery of the original recording, it's a tolerable reissue. Also it's not a gatefold and there is a plain white inner, so the center artwork and credits in the UA original are entirely absent.
- Which version has the extra 2 bars of solo drums in the very beginning of sport? The ones I had started with the bass playing as well
- Seminal masterpiece. Prototype Rap/Hip Hop. Interesting background to the making of it:
