Music is interesting but I find my copy very difficult to listen to, too much high frequency emphasis and hash.. not a prime cut for me- Edited one year ago

NOTE: The Japanese pressing has a legitimate lyrics sheet if you're interested, but there is no instance of this online
The album itself is probably one of my favorite CV albums, it has funk mixed in with eastern elements. My personal favorite track is Red Mask, such an awesome feeling song with it's distorted organs and rolling drums. I would recommend finding a vinyl or CD copy.
One of the biggest mysteries of the album itself tends to be the lyrics as they were never officially released on any western version of the album. They were however, released for the Japanese version (with it's own liner art of the holy city Mecca tinted in red) and as such I had to find pictures. After getting the pictures and transcribing them onto Genius.com, I can say that the lyrics are a mystery in of itself - they don't necessarily lean towards any specific meaning or political context which many people associate with the album, but they do signify the band's knack for utilizing lyrics as a tool to elevate the instrumentation. Mallinder's snarling vocals about random stuff works with the music even if the lyrics are nonsensical at best. This shows that their true strengths are not within their songwriting but are in their instrumentation. They would end up working through this with 2x45, up until Watson left and they started making straightforward synth-pop music afterwards.
10/10, One of the best Industrial albums of all time. referencing Red Mecca (LP, Album) ROUGH 27
3 out of 3, 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10, and 100 out of 100. My favorites are "A Thousand Ways" and "Split Second Feeling."referencing Red Mecca (LP, Album) ROUGH 27
Such an awesome record. Cabaret Voltaire were not as iconic or legendary as some of their more popular contemporaries working a similar vein. But they were more experimental and radical and their best moments - and records - are better. In my correct opinion.- Same barcode as above, no sticker on the shrink wrap, no CD either. Doesn’t feel like a 180g record. Can confirm the good quality and great soundstage.

My copy also has a sheet of 6 postcards of various Rough Trade artists - Virgin Prunes, The Slits, Dome, This Heat, Postcard Records, and of course, Cabaret Voltaire.- Sounds excellent. If you can't find a clean original, this is a good reissue to own. A solid pressing that plays dead silent and is mastered well. The horns are sharp, drums are punchy and realistic, and a wide soundstage adds great depth to the music.

One of the most groundbreaking albums for the industrial music scene. Continues to inspire!referencing Red Mecca (LP, Album) ROUGH 27
Who else had a color poster in theirs?? Not seeing it on any of the release pages...referencing Red Mecca (LP, Album, Stereo) GI LP 27
This boggled me for years until I bought the CD. The track list labels were stuck to the wrong sides. I always thought that Sly Doubt was my favorite track when it was actually A Split Second Feeling.
