Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi's Dead

"Bela Lugosi's Dead" is Bauhaus's fist single, originally released in the UK in August 1979. It missed the mainstream chart, but remained on the independent listings for over two years, necessitating several represses and reissues within this time.

There are conflicting stories about the first pressing. In an interview for Uncut magazine Small Wonder Records owner Pete Stennett claimed the first pressing was on white vinyl. However contemporary evidence shows that the white edition of 5,000 copies was released several months after the original release, which had sold out in a matter of weeks. During this time the release was unavailable due to pressing problems and new masters had to be made. Some of these early pressings have spined sleeves, others not.

Thereafter there have been various other represses and reissues starting in the mid-/late '80s including the following: - black vinyl with black-on-white sleeve - clear vinyl with brown-on-white sleeve - opaque pink vinyl with pink-on-white sleeve - transparent green vinyl with green-on-white sleeve - opaque blue vinyl with blue-on-white sleeve - transparent purple vinyl with purple-on-white sleeve - glow-in-the-dark picture disc with clear plastic sleeve.

"Dark Entries (demo)" is not listed as a track on the vinyl release, but it does appear on the record. The first 5000 CD copies were numbered.

At least one variation of TEENY 2 was listed in Music Week as a new release the week of Oct. 10–14, 1988.
